Safe support with prescribed medication
We help individuals manage prescribed medication safely and consistently while encouraging independence wherever possible. The level of support is agreed following assessment and recorded clearly in the person’s care plan.
Our trained care professionals follow SafeNest’s medication procedures and the individual’s current care plan. We do not prescribe medication or make clinical decisions about changing a medicine or dosage.
Medication support may include:
- Reminding or prompting a person to take their medication
- Assisting with medication where this has been assessed and agreed
- Administering prescribed medication when included in the care plan and within staff competence
- Recording support accurately on the Medication Administration Record, where applicable
- Supporting safe storage and agreed medication routines
- Observing and reporting missed doses, refusals, side effects or other concerns
- Liaising with the individual, their representative, pharmacy or relevant health professional when appropriate and authorised
