Reliable temporary care when family or unpaid carers need a break
Respite care provides planned, temporary support for an individual when a family member or unpaid carer needs time to rest, attend appointments, manage other responsibilities or take a longer break. It can also help families test a care arrangement before making longer-term decisions.
We take time to understand the person’s routines, preferences and existing care arrangements so that support remains consistent, safe and reassuring. Respite care can be arranged on a planned basis, and urgent requests will be considered where a safe assessment and suitable staffing can be completed.
Respite support may include:
- Personal care and established daily routines
- Medication support in accordance with the care plan
- Meal preparation and support with nutrition and hydration
- Companionship and meaningful activities
- Mobility assistance and support around the home
- Support with dementia or stable mental health needs
- Light housekeeping, laundry and essential household tasks
- Short visits, extended support or live-in respite care, subject to assessment and availability
